Teaching the Circle of 5ths (for teachers of all instruments)

Member, Claudia Libero will be presenting her surefire way to help students master the circle of 5ths and teacher strategies.  The presentation will include:

• Reviewing keys: only Major/only Minor at all levels. 

• Filling in key signatures in treble or bass clef or learning letters on the circle.

• Emphasizing theory based on level--from pre-reading to advanced.

• Learning to modulate.

• Learning palindrome sentence for sharps and flats.

• Playing "Off the Bench" games.

• Reading music examples for: tonic/dominant cadences, relative Major/Minor keys, parallel Major/Minor keys.

The Alexander Technique 

Guest Marian Goldberg is a STAT, Am SAT Certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. This technique helps musicians release extra muscle tension, improve body awareness, and prevent injuries by learning how to move with ease and balance, while playing an instrument or singing.
